COLOUR ME DRAGG HAS BEEN CHOSEN AS ONE OF NINE CONTESTANTS (COMMUNITY ARTS GROUPS/INDIVIDUALS/ENTREPENEURS) FOR THE 2010 ARTREACH PITCH CONTEST! IN OUR CATEGORY WE WILL BE ONE OF THREE COMMUNITY ARTS GROUPS UP FOR THE GRAND PRIZE.

THE WINNER WILL RECEIVE A $5,000 PRIZE GRANT BUT INCREDIBLE THIRD AND SECOND PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED IN EACH CATEGORY TOO, SO WE'LL ALL BE WINNERS!

COLOUR ME DRAGG: SILENCE THIS! - Buddies Queer Pride Festival 2010

This is a shout out, a call out to all the magnificent Queer indigenous, aboriginal, POC (People of Colour) PERFORMERS of Toronto and the world!

CMD is now an official event at the Buddies QUEER PRIDE Fe...stival this year and this time we're hitting THE CHAMBER stage! That's right folks, WE'RE MOVIN' ON UP! It's bigger and fully equipped to better showcase your awesome talents.

And get this, this event takes place on a SATURDAY! Saturday June 26th, 7pm-10pm.

We have 10 performance spots to fill, so sign up will be on a first come first serve basis. SO GET YOUR INFO IN ASAP!!! (contact info below). Now, if you can't make the Buddies show, we will have spots on the BLOCKARAMA and PRIDE DRAG stages during the following weekend, so we do have a few more spots to fill at our other events.

Because of the limited amount of spots available this year and because of all the b-shit happening with Pride this year, we want to be even louder and even bigger this year, SO! We would like to encourage as many performers to collaborate this year and come up with amazing GROUP ACTS!! Collaborating and sharing with your fellow performers is a truly rewarding experience!

If you are a stage virgin but would really love to perform, or you have never performed in a group before, please let us know and we will connect folks with those who’d like to form a group performance.

LASTLY, we are putting out another call out for those who would be interested in doing a group number to represent Colour Me Dragg at a VERY SPECIAL PRIDE EVENT (TBA). This act would also be performed at CMD: Silence This at Buddies.

Colour Me Dragg entertained a massive crowd at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre on Sunday, December 14th. With thirteen exciting acts, Dainty Box MC-ing, and DJ Quinces at the decks, the third ever Milo de Milo and Sammy Tomato co-produced-CMD delivered a breathtaking show to an appreciative (and loud) audience!

The lineup was as follows:

All Proceeds from CMD went directly to Asian Arts Freedom School, an art-based radical Asian history and activism program for Asian/Pacific Islander youth in the Greater Toronto Area. Asian = South Asian, West Asian (a.k.a. Arab or Middle-Eastern), Southeast Asian, East Asian, and Central Asian. We cover various artforms including writing, spoken word, music, visual arts, film, breakdancing, theatre and modern dance.

CMD managed to sell a whopping 110 pre-tickets with Milo personally meeting up with those interested in purchasing them at street corners, and also with the help of Toronto Women's Bookstore. Even more people showed up at the door, making for a packed night in the Buddies theatre.

Milo and Sammy have plans for another CMD in 2009, and hope to match the success of the December '08 show!
